Joy vs. Happiness

Do not confuse joy with happiness. Happiness tends to be temporary. You get an unexpected check in the mail and you are happy. So you go shopping but on the way the car breaks down and needs to be towed. Now you are unhappy.

See? Happiness comes and goes. Happiness depends on what's happening. Even the words have similar spelling.

Joy, on the other hand, comes from a deeper source from within you.. and it steadies you, smoothing out the bumps in the road.

It has yet another name... Gratitude. Without gratitude, there is no joy, so it's important to take the time to look at the things you are grateful for.

You have all your fingers and toes? Good! Some people don't.

Have too much to do? Good. Some people are confined to bed and cannot lift a finger.

How about your children? Start counting your blessings.
